Can Florida Homeowners Trim, Prune Or Remove Trees Without A Permit?
Here are the details. In 2019, House Bill 1159 made it possible. Sponsored by State Representative Mike La Rosa, it was also known as the “private property rights” bill. It allows homeowners to trim, prune or remove trees without having to obtain a permit or application from a local government. In addition, local governments are prohibited from requiring notice, application, approval, permit, fee or mitigation for the pruning, trimming or removal of a tree on residential property if the owner obtains documentation, from a certified arborist of the International Society of Arboriculture or a Florida licensed landscape architect, that the tree presents a danger to persons or property.
When it comes to your property and the safety of your family, don’t take chances. As a certified arborist, we adhere to the standards of the National Arborist Association.
